Diary #9 – Muscle soreness and the new washroom

It is 4 PM. I pulled the curtain and look around the neighborhood. It is beautiful Sunday afternoon today. People were walking the dog and cutting the grasses. Sky was clear and blue, the clouds were white.

I spent sometimes on the bed to look the emails, calculate the financial spreadsheet, review the blog posts (just to make sure if I need to edit something), read the news (mostly on VNExpress as always), watch some livestream of LoL and CS2, check up some Ikariam stuff . So it takes me two and a half hours to get my day going. Yesterday night I was spending most of my time on video games, why not? it is weekend and I do want to have some fun in the end of a week. But of course I would prefer to play sport or being socialized after all, or maybe do some lab works, some of my tasks are still pending since last week but I don’t really want to stress myself out.

The new washroom of my current stay

The first thing right after I did after waking up was the taking care of hygiene. I went to the bathroom that is now newer than before. I love the new looks of the walk-in shower. It is all whites with marbles and a new tempered glass sliding door. This probably costs the landlord a few thousands to renew it. The only drawback of the upgrade was the shower system, the shower head was kept but the shower handheld sprayer was removed. This mean I have only have one option left to spray my ass is the toilet sprayer, which will be really cold in the winter I assume.

Beside the new shower room. I also have issue moving around because of muscle soreness. I think this is a good sign because that means muscle hypertrophy. But the soreness definitely make me feel difficult to sit down. I was squatting on Friday, which was two days ago. The workout session was intense: for squat, 4 warm-up sets 12 to 15 reps, 3 working sets with 8 reps each, and 4 cool down sets. My workout mostly containing squats, then I go with morning squat lifting with 5×12 reps. Then I did the squat machines. I do not do any further isolation sets or lunges after that because I was already very tired. The weights were not that high, I usually lift 40 to 80kg squat (with the bar). This lifting volumes (the excercises and the weights) was working for me consistently for last 3 years. I mean I did’t lift as hard as 2020 because of my diet is currently low in protein. I don’t really focus in specific kind of nutritions, I do not cut carbs or keto diet or anything, just eat normally in fasting window and workout often for at least 4 times a week.

The things I often do is also taking a look constantly of my changing in appearance, the body fat mass / adominal fat, the hair grown: I like grooming the hair, keeping it shorts at all time. Here in Canada I don’t have trimmer so I leave the hairs grown. Then I feel it doesn’t matter much anymore. For the hair on the head, I also keep it a bit longer than when I was in Vietnam. In Vietnam I was going to the barbershop for the trimmings, I love barbershops in Vietnam because it is really cost effective and they spent huge amount of afford to take care of our body: we can all get the good massage when doing head wash, the /staff are nice. Another habit that I would like to mention is that I often do shower in two occassions: after the toilet and before going to the gym. I guess it is all about keeping myself clean. Despite that, I need to buy my own vaccum cleaner now, I quite hestitate to ask to borrow the vaccum cleaner, therefore my room was being cleaned bi-weekly instead of weekly in Vietnam. Nevertheless, my hygiene in Vietnam was definitely better, and more economic at the same time. I hope the new tenant of my flat will take care of it. He is Korean so I do have high hope.
